Nice video, MB Virginia flake is a nice Va tobacco, it tastes like American cigarette ( in a good way) and it has a strong dry hay flavor with little burley added on . MB Virginia No.1 is straight Va with more sweetness and its more creamy. both are great Va.

Zungenbrand ist bei mir kein Thema, da ich Virginias generell langsam und behutsam rauche. Das mit dem braunen Rohrzucker wusste ich bis eben (noch) nicht, finde es aber sehr interessant.

Moin Lars,
Mac Baren benutzt sehr viel ” braunen Rohrzucker ” zum kleben der Flake`s. Das ist nicht ungewöhnlich, andere Firmen kleben auch ! Allerdings neigen die stark zuckerhaltigen Tabake zum Zungenbrand, daher langsam rauchen !

Beim Peterson “Sherlock Holmes” muss ich passen, den hatte ich bisher noch nicht. Von Peterson hatte ich bisher nur “Special Reserve 2007″, “Sweet Killarney” und “Sunset Breeze”, die ich jeweils empfehlen kann (sind allerdings Aromaten).

danke für die Vorstellung von MBs “Virginia Flake”. Ich mag ihn hin und wieder ganz gerne. Besonders, weil er sehr unkompliziert ist und sich so auch für mich für unterwegs eignet. Er ist kein Brüller, aber ein sehr ordentlicher Tabak. Der “Navy Flake” gefällt mir etwas besser.

Den Virginia Flake, hatte ich vor Kurzem auch hier gehabt. Für mich persönlich ist er zu ausdruckslos, ihm fehlt der Charakter, dieses gewisse Etwas. Es ist ein Qualitätstabak, aber bei mir hat er es auch nicht in die Top Ten geschafft. Aber wie immer ein sehr schönes Video von dir. Gruß: Marco

yes, it’s a lot of work to do the translations. But I think it’s worth doing it.
Because of the german pipesmoker community on YouTube it won’t make sense to make videos in english. Bilingual won’t work either because of the time limit of 15 minutes.
Dark flavors are also what I prefer. My most favorite tobacco is “Captain Black” from the USA (the european mixture tastes terrible) and all aromatics with Virginia and Black Cavendish.

meine Tabakbar umfasst derzeit 16 offene und 2 noch verschlossene Tabake. Ich werde also so schnell nicht “auf dem Trockenen” sitzen und habe stets genügend Abwechslung.
Mein Virginia-Favorit ist immer noch der “LHE Virginia Blend” aus reinen Virginia Mysore Tabaken.

Thanks for posting your videos. I can imagine it’s a lot of work to have to do the translation. I will try that blend when the weather here warms back up I’m into the dark,rich flavors right now. Good seeing you and looking forward to more of your post’s.

Ich bin auch der Meinung, daß dieser Tabak etwas aromatisiert ist. Er ist, so glaube ich ganz gut für diejenigen geeignet die sich nicht komplett von Aromaten trennen wollen und schon mal mehr Tabak schmecken wollen. Wieviele Sorten umfasst denn Deine Tabakbar. Auf jeden Fall must Du Dir keine Gedanken machen wenn Du ein paar Tage einschneist- Tabak dürfte da sein;)!

@larshermanns Den Hinweis auf Honig bei MB habe ich auch nie verstanden. Bei fast allen schmecke ich dagegen Süßholz heraus. Der Virginia Flake von MB wird oft übergangen. Ich persönlich rauche ihn lieber als den Navy Flake. Grundsätzlich muss man natürlich fragen, wo man jetzt die Grenze der Aromatisierung ansetzt. In fast allen Tabaken ist eine Zucker-, Süßholz- oder Pflaumensauce drin. Auch in Engländern. Nimmt man etwas mehr davon – schwupps ist der Aromat da.

als puren Virginia beschränke ich mich auf den Virginia Mysore von Torben Dansk (mit 25% eigenem Zuckeranteil), den ich neulich vorgestellt habe. Mit der Aromatisierung bin ich mir beim Virginia Flake wirklich unsicher, da ich es für die Würze durch “fired” Virginias gehalten habe. Und Dan Pipes Hinweis auf “Honig” kann ich absolut nicht nachvollziehen.

Es ist zwar von einer “Würzung” die Rede, aber eine echte Aromatisierung kann ich partout nicht feststellen. Ich dachte bis eben, man hätte vielleicht ein paar “fired” Virginias genommen…

Hallo Lars,

ich muss da Johannes zustimmen. Der Tabak ist mit einer aromatisierten Saucierung versehen, wie alle MacBarens. Der Tabak ist lecker und unkompliziert zu rauchen. Leider hat er wie alle MacBarens ein Problem: ich bekomme sehr leicht Zungenbrand davon. Ansonsten eine gute Empfehlung. Probier mal den Richmond Flake. Der ist wohl in Richtung Zucker sauciert und damit eher ein nicht-aromatisierter Flake. Ein reiner VA-Flake ist die Nr. 100 von Peter Heinrichs.

Also als “PUREN” Virginia wuerde ich den Burschen, vom Gescmack her, nicht bezeichnen.
Vor 1 oder 2 Monaten hatte ich den auch, und muss sagen: wie immer, typisches MacBaren-Aroma. Süßlich, und etwas aromatisiert. Aber eben nicht natursüß, sodnern eher chemisch-sueß, Was nicht heißen soll dass er schelcht ist, ganz im gegenteil, ich fidne ihna uch großartig!

And of course,.. you are totally right! This IS dangerous and please don´t do it at home with your car … in this case it was all made secure, and as I wrote below, the tires went straight into trash afterwards..

I used to own an old Talbot Sunbeam, which I often drove around with one of the tyres deflated until it was really soft. I liked to see how people reacted as I drove past, or when they saw me squish the almost-flat tyre up onto the edge of a kerb while parking.

I just got a request for a custom vid on this sort of thing (they used this vid as a example) and I really don’t understand what its all about or why I should wreck my car’s tires for the sake of some strange experiment. I guess its because I own a tire machine and have fitting experience.

but whatever this is about, play it safe!, those tires will be DANGEROUS to drive on if re-inflated!. scrap them and buy new ones!

@babbage38 You are right,.. but to get these old tyres today is quite difficult. It´s much more fun to drive the old ones when flat.. but, tyres are expensive especially when using the old ones to play and using the new ones to drive safly..

I don’t think modern low-profile tyres look as good when they are being driven when flat. Older tyres flop around and crumple under the wheel much better.
